COMPATT is… was…
Currently
COMPATT has always been a professional extension of myself. Clients who made use of my services valued my ability to make technology more understandable to them if that is what they desired, or to simply translate what their business needed into a computer based solution. This required a lot of effort on my part to learn about and understand the unique needs their business had and how best to use my past experience to fulfill those needs.
At present, this website is undergoing a major metamorphosis into a site whose primary goal is education in the nexus of problem solving, science, and communication. I have no idea if I will be able to turn this into an at least self-supporting revenue stream but I do hope that if you find anything on this site helpful or inspiring that you will share it with others. I also would like you to let me know about the things you disagree with as well as those with which you agree. I do not claim that the ideas presented here are either unique or original but I do think my way of presenting them is. And I think some may find the uniqueness of my presentation of value.
Originally
Focusing on IT Consulting/Service for Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) environments of one to ten computers. Can provide advice/assistance in planning, purchasing, installing, maintaining, and repairing of local networks and associated peripheral devices. Over fifteen years experience in getting technology to work for you instead of you working for it. Enjoy helping computer users find the "middle ground" between what technology can do for you, what you want it to do for you, and what you need it to do for you.
I provide consulting for hardware, software, networking and related technology purchases and upgrades. Training and "Help Desk" support as needed. Familiar with both QuickBooks and Peachtree accounting software as well as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access. Service all out-of-warranty computers and assist in quickly resolving support issues with equipment suppliers and manufactures both in and out of warranty. Also provide weekly "periodic maintenance services" but will gladly train you to "do it yourself".
Have you wanted to AUTOMATE your business? Are you planning to UPGRADE your existing computers or software? Are you unsure whether you need to? Often the way to save money is to MAKE THE BEST OF WHAT YOU HAVE instead of jumping on the endless treadmill of hardware and/or software upgrades.
Are you tired of working for your computer instead of WORKING WITH YOUR COMPUTER? Everyone has heard how computers are supposed to ENHANCE PRODUCTIVITY, allowing us to save time and eliminate or REDUCE PAPERWORK, but too many times, just the opposite occurs. Have you invested thousands in what has amounted to little more than an expensive typewriter or calculator? Does your business have SPECIAL NEEDS that aren't being met by your software out-of-the-box?
COMPUTERS ARE IMPORTANT. They can become invaluable, time-saving tools for small business as well as larger corporations, which can afford the services of higher priced efficiency experts and computer consultants. There are thousands of magazines, books, and videos designed to help you GET THE MOST FROM YOUR COMPUTER. While technical experts write the information in a concise, competent manner, they use vocabulary and concepts average users find difficult to understand. You need to learn about or have heard about great software features: MACRO's, TEMPLATES, & TIME SAVING UTILITIES. Many take a little time to learn, but most of the time, TIME IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE.
Sometimes, even as a "power user," YOU JUST NEED A LITTLE HELP; or (at most) as a new user a TEMPORARY COLLEAGUE to get your system running the way you want.
